(August 17, 2015) Pensacola, Fl -I can recall the feeling I had as the words of Julian Bond resonated with me when he spoke to members of the student body at Albany State College where I attended in the 1980's. Bond provided the keynote address and I can remember his speech loudly as I heard him discuss the many components of the Civil Rights Movement and those who actively advocated changing America and the world for the better place. His encouragement and passion for change reached many of the students. He told the students that in order to stay focused; we must remember that we are the ones who must serve in the community. We must do this regardless to our personal ideologies. He continued and said that in doing so, we must process a dose of LSD as this would aid us in succeeding in all of our endeavors. Then, post the shock factor in getting the students and faculties attention, he presented his meaning of LSD.

L- LOVE your fellowman and all who do things against you. In spite of their transgressions against you, you must love them.

S- Maintain a SPIRIT of longsuffering.  In your suffering do not lose your spirit that is directed toward your goals.

D-Maintain a DISCIPLINE to keep love and the spirit of love for humanity. Maintain a discipline for your future as everyone has a destiny anointed by God.

He reiterated that this was the LSD we must process and that we should not be confused with any other ways for our own future and the future of the world as this vision will provide a clear direction. I have always and will always remember this message. Thank you Julian for your dose of LSD.
