World Championship Boxing Comes To Queens

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Aug. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Pandora Promotions is proud to announce that the “Triboro Fight Night” will make its series debut on September 15, 2015 at the outdoor Studio Square in Queens, NY.  Headlined by former four-time world champion and Brooklynite Alicia “Slick” Ashley, the night of boxing will feature some of New York’s hottest prospects and contenders.

Ashley (22-10-1, 4 KOs) will be vying for her 5^th world title against the worthy and undefeated current Interim WBC Bantamweight Champion Christine “Lightning” McMahon (7-0, 3 KOs) of Monaghan, Ireland in a 10-round championship bout for the vacant WBC Super Bantamweight crown.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to not only fight in New York, but to also have the chance to reclaim the title that I lost a year ago,” stated Ashley.  “The WBC belt is one of the most prestigious titles and to, once again, showcase my skills in front of my hometown fans and fellow Jamaican contingency is a true honor. I’m very excited and look forward to a phenomenal fight.”

The 48-year old Ashley, a 17-year boxing veteran, lost the title at the hands of a split-decision to Mexico’s Jackie Nava in September 2014.  She will also look to capture the Guinness Book World Record as the Oldest Active Female World Boxing Champion with a victory over McMahon.

The co-main event will feature Astoria’s own Armin Mrkanovic “The Bosnian Prince” (7-2, 3 KOs) against Lamont Capers of Hawley, PA in a eight round cruiserweight bout.  Mrkanovic has won three of his last five fights with his last victory back in February of this year.

“Ashley is one of the most skilled and well-respected female boxers in the world.  She will be facing a tough opponent in McMahon who is looking for another world title herself,” said Luigi Olcese, Director of Boxing Operations, Pandora Promotions.  “The rest of the card showcases very good talent including (Armin) Mrkanovic. It’s going to be a great night for boxing under the stars.”
