Cult Filmmaker Challenges Death in New Novel

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Oct. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Notorious cult filmmaker Dan Coplan, whose past film “The Dragon Gate” was banned in Korea and censored in Germany, is unleashing his first novel “Let it Be” on El Dia De Los Muertos,”The Day of the Dead.” No relation to the Beatles’ song of the same name, the title is drawn from a passage in Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, “there is a special providence in the fall of a sparrow . . . the readiness is all,  . . . let be.” [Act 5, Scene 2, Page 10] .

Twelve years in the making, the story brings in myth, mystery and spirituality to focus on a tall tale of Death falling in love with a human. Set on the eve of the Day of The Dead, with ties also to Halloween, the supernatural thriller is infused with erotic energy. As the novel’s lead character, Yeats Dane, sets out to find his wife's killer and avenge her murder he is seduced by Death. A wild, sexy, and fantastic game of cat and mouse ensues, in which everything goes wrong.

Author Dan Coplan, who has been shot at twice, traveled to Mt. Fuji in Japan on a Buddhist pilgrimage, and at 14 was given only hours to live, uses his many real life meetings with Death as the basis for this neo-myth.
