“30 years ago when my grandmother became ill, the solution was for her to move in with us. She was reluctant to do so and it was a challenge for a home with seven children ranging from college students to elementary school kids, but we made it work. Then, 10 years ago, my wife’s aunt was diagnosed with cancer and her husband, who was in his 80s, was the sole caregiver. When she passed away, her uncle was dealing with his own health issues as well as his grief, so my wife drove across town a few days a week to do what she could. During both of those times, we were completely unaware that businesses provided caregiving services and could have made things much better for everyone,” Sander said. “When I heard about Home Helpers, I knew it would be a good fit for me and my community.”

“While I was looking for that next opportunity, a business contact asked if I’d thought about owning a business and sent me to a franchise marketer, who talked to me about home care and that conversation led me to Home Helpers. When I put in my notice at my job, I saw a company retiree at lunch and I told him that I was opening this business. He said that I’ll be good at this because I care. I think that’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever had,” Sander said.

“I’m excited to be in a position where I can be the solution families are looking for. We care about your loved ones and we’ll treat them with the compassion and dignity they deserve. Today we are blessed that our adult children still have four living grandparents, but with all of them over 75, we see the potential need for caregiving service, even if just to provide relief for one parent caring for the other,” he added.
