By: HBCU Pride Nation HBCU Pride Nation President Travis P. Jackson: “Today, we applaud the entire community of HBCU students, alumni, business owners and supporters,” HBCU Pride Nation International President Mea Boykins: “As the international liaison and governing body for HBCU Pride National International,” HBCU Pride Nation Vice President + Call To Action Chairman Torrence Reed: “As the Special Call To Action Task Force for HBCU Pride Nation,” said Torrence Reed, HBCU Pride Nation Vice President and Call To Action Chairman. “Our position was made clear from the beginning. Our only focus is the safety and well-being of the students currently matriculating at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and beyond. From the breaking of this story, until the moment we arrived to meet with Jawanza, our focus was his safety. A student should not have to spend a night in his car. Not on our watch. We had to do something about it, and we did. Less than 24 hours later, Jawanza now has a place to call home. But our work is far from done, we have worked directly with Jawanza to set-up a donations page to facilitate donations to assist in moving costs and new living expenses. While his rent will be free, we have plans to ensure that he has the necessities to live and survive this semester. Donations can be sent directly, via paypal, to www.paypal.me/ About HBCU Pride Nation HBCU Pride Nation is a global brand that works to promote the significance and importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in an effort to increase the international positive awareness and enrollment of our institutions. We focus on edifying the lives of prospective students by bridging the gap between HBCU institutions, current student bodies, alumni, and the communities in which they live.
