Follow on Google News | Anderson Engineering Receives Award for Rebuilding Joplin High SchoolBy: Anderson Engineering, Inc. Construction on the 480,000 square foot facility began in 2012, but was met with significant unanticipated challenges, including rock shelves, pinnacle rock, the discovery of abandoned lead and zinc mine shafts dating back to the 1800s, in addition to faults under key structural building components. Unusually soft and loose cherty gravel was uncovered, rendering the original drill shaft foundations unbuildable. Alongside Hayward Baker, Inc., Anderson Engineering, Inc. developed a tailored geotechnical exploration plan and then performed extensive drilling in these hazard areas. The award was presented at The AGC Annual Construction Awards on November 12, 2015. CEO/President of Anderson Engineering, Neil Brady, P.E., commented, “We are proud to be part of the rebuilding of Joplin after the tornado. This project exemplifies our philosophy of: Doing what is right; doing your best; and treating others with respect. This allowed us to exceed the expectations of our client and to be recognized for it.” Founded in 1954, Anderson Engineering, Inc. is employee-owned and is a member of the Washington, DC-based ESOP Association, as well as the Heart of America Chapter of the association.
