Team behind new Kingston upon Thames care home celebrates topping out

Care UK has moved a step closer to delivering a new multi-million pound care home in Kingston upon Thames, with a topping out ceremony held on site to mark the latest construction milestone.

COLCHESTER, U.K. - Dec. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- The Mayor of Kingston, Roy Arora, joined with the team from Care UK and representatives from developer and construction partner, Metnor, to place the final tile on the roof of the care home, which is situated on the Corner of Kingston Vale and Robin Hood Lane.

Part way through the 60-week construction programme, the project is on track to create up to 90 jobs when the care home is fully commissioned and welcomes its first residents in April 2016.

Justin Daley, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “As the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, this highly impressive new development represents a major investment for us. When complete, the home will boost the provision of quality residential care for up to 59 older people in Kingston upon Thames and beyond, as well as creating jobs for local people.

“We take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual care home – not least because these are all very important factors which can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. As work continues apace in Kingston upon Thames, our vision for the home is well on the way to being realised and we wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge progress and celebrate the topping out with our construction partners and other stakeholders.”

Chris Cant, managing director of Mentor Construction, added: “We're proud to have been given the opportunity to build yet another exciting project for Care UK. The fact this is our twelfth care home for Care UK is a glowing endorsement of the relationship we have built with the healthcare provider over the past 10 years.

“Together we are focused on delivering a first class environment for the future residents. I'm confident the dedication and attention to detail our team and supply chain have applied to this project will be demonstrated in the completed care home at Kingston Vale.”

Woking-based PRC Architecture is the architect for the project. A spokesperson said: “Our vision for this scheme is for a building of a high quality design and appearance, which will enhance the conservation area.”

The new three-storey care home, which will feature 59-ensuite bedrooms, has been sensitively designed to provide a high quality environment for the provision of full time residential care, specialist dementia care, nursing, and short term respite care.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence, the home will have space for hobby and leisure activities as well as a cinema, hairdressing salon and café. Wheelchair friendly landscaped gardens will offer residents the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of spending time outdoors.
