By: Rock'n Music Academy Maroulis, a resident of Wyckoff, NJ, spent more than an hour with vocal, piano and guitar students, sharing his experience and insights on how he’s built his career in music and theater. Rock’n Music Academy owner Howard Lee Edwards, Jr. said that Maroulis is the first guest instructor he’s brought in for the school’s ongoing Master Class series. “Constantine was the perfect choice for our first Master Class guest instructor,” Maroulis shared much of his early music experience, including his high school roles in musical theatre, as the front man in several rock bands, plus his summer stock theatre experience. He stressed the importance of a rigorous work ethic in the music industry. “It’s truly a craft you have to hone and work on, like any other profession --- doctor, lawyer, teacher,” Maroulis said. A graduate of the prestigious Boston Conservatory of Music, Maroulis also noted the value of higher education in music. A highlight of the session was Maroulis’ individualized approach for each student, as he provided a mini lesson and critique for each student vocalist and musician, offering guidance on techniques for practicing, performing and even auditioning for theatrical roles. “Look for the emotion in the song and make a connection with that feeling,” was a refrain Maroulis noted several times during the session. He also offered additional insights and tips, from the value of writing original music, to recognizing other key behind the scenes careers in the music and theatre industry. The students in attendance were thrilled to attend Maroulis’ master class session. “I thought Constantine was very inspirational,” For the latest updates on Constantine Maroulis and his appearances, visit constantinemaroulis.com (http://www.constantinemaroulis.com) To learn more about Rock’n Music Academy lessons, master classes, summer camps and other programs, contact Rock'n Music Academy at 732-933-ROCK (7625).
