ATLANTA - Jan. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- With the 2016 Presidential Election looming, two tastemakers of Atlanta culture, Xavier Peoples and Jason “J. Carter” Carter are partnering to bring a supercharged version of the weekly Thursday night mixer,#PoliticsAfterDark to socially and politically engage young influential curators of Atlanta.

With years of political engagement and activism under his belt, Peoples, the creator of #PoliticsAfterDark and co-founder ofM Bar, along with one of Atlanta’s entertainment ambassadors, "J. Carter", the founder of ONE MusicFest, will come together to produce a uniquely interactive social event weekly. By bringing together an influential community combining entertainment and politics, their hope is to activate their influence of over 100,000 industry leaders and connect them with civic leaders charged with being change agents for social good.

The premise? Gather millennials, generation Xers, creatives, young professionals, and political figures in a casually chic atmosphere where they can congregate and discuss social, political, and economic issues and solutions while enjoying social status and celebrating collective successes.

The 2016 lineup already includes partnerships with prominent figures in Atlanta and Nationally including Young Democrats, Young Republicans and executives in music and entertainment that will be announced in the coming weeks.

#PoliticsAfterDark has already made waves by bridging these gaps through partnerships with the DNC's Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Former South Carolina Rep and CNN Contributor, Bakari Sellers, Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, and other major political figures in the Atlanta-metro area.

When asked why this type of engagement is important for the community, Xavier explains, “I feel like the time is now for young people to get involved and realize the power that we have through economics and education. If I can get a few to realize their power then I feel like I have made an impact.” Carter adds, “This partnership is game changing because there needs to be a platform that allows for business owners, tastemakers and industry leaders to engage political leaders. There are not enough platforms available outside of press conferences that encourages the exchange of progressive thoughts and ideas in a social setting.”

#PoliticsAfterDark is a weekly event that takes place on Thursday nights at M BAR on historic Auburn Ave. Civic leaders are encouraged to participate by considering partnerships that allows them to directly connect, engage, serve and get the buy-in of their constituents.
