Pretty Girl Awards Honors, Empowers Black Women

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jan. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  Hosted by Dr. Tamarrah Tarver, CEO of Pretty Girl World, the 2015 Pretty Girl Awards ceremony was an experience like no other. The sights and sounds of the event, held on December 12, uniquely celebrated the impact of women in North Florida who have dedicated their lives to uplifting others.

During the ceremony, 12 women were recognized for a multitude of efforts, ranging from business to ministry. The women, having demonstrated integrity and dedication in their respective fields, each received a glamorous pink trophy celebrating their individual contributions.

“I wanted to empower women and let them know that they are more than negative stereotypes,” said Tarver about her inspiration for organizing the event.

Award categories included: beauty, fashion, ministry, financier, entrepreneurial, education, community activism, media, fitness, emerging voices, photography, and the 2015 Pretty Girl of the Year and Trailblazer of the Year awards.

The Pretty Girl of the Year honor was given to Lisa Ward, who owns a Tallahassee area boutique called Kozy Klozet Boutique, LLC. Ward focuses on providing women with high-quality offerings, while ensuring that her products are both affordable and accessible to women who want to put their best foot forward. Ward is alsoa devotedwife, mother, giver, visionary, and the author of the book, "Inspiring A Whole New You."

Author and Pastor Nicky E. Collins was named as the 2015 Trailblazer of the Year for her inspirational service to the community. Collins recently inspired women across Florida and the nation with her #30DaystoChange Challenge and companion devotional.

Makeup artist extraordinaire Radiant Jones, owner of Always Radiant Professional Makeup Artistry, received the Beauty Award. Jones teaches women that makeup is not meant to cover up a bad attitude, but should serve as a complement to a positive attitude.

The event is one of many of Tarver’s events designed to encourage, celebrate, and motivate women of all walks of life. She has been a trailblazer for women across the nation, hosting conferences year-round in various locations featuring a panel of experts in many areas such as finance, health, and education to ensure that women are consistently positioned for success.

Based on her previous career in mental health, she recognized a strong need for women’s support in empowerment and self-esteem, her umbrella company Pretty Girl World, Inc. was created to satisfy this need.

With an ever-growing following of women and girls’ eager to realize their dreams, many women gain inspiration through Tarver’s motivating posts on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, and YouTube.
