Michigan State University & Hurley Children’s Hospital Announce Pediatric Public Health Initiative

Jan. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- FLINT, Michigan — On Thursday, January 14 at 10AM, a new initiative between Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital will be announced to the media. The joint venture will be led by Mona Hanna-Attisha MD MPH FAAP, Director, Pediatric Residency at Hurley Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at MSU College of Human Medicine. The initiative is a continued investment in the future of all Flint children, as we build a model public health program to address the population-wide lead exposure and help all Flint children grow up healthy and strong. With experts in pediatrics, child development, psychology, epidemiology, nutrition, toxicology, geography, education and more, the Pediatric Public Health Initiative will provide the tools and resources for the assessment, continued monitoring, and interventions necessary for improving children’s health and development. The initiative will also innovatively partner with the Genesee County Health Department, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and MSU Extension. The initiative will be supported by the MSU College of Human Medicine Division of Public Health located in downtown Flint.
