Polished Concrete Costs Halved

CAMBERWELL, Australia - Jan. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- Polished concrete has always been expensive and many contractors find it difficult to perfect the process and even more difficult to do each stage without repeating a step or two.

This can increase the costs substantially or it can decrease the costs if a step or two can be combined or removed.

The first way to do this is to grout and densify at an early stage and to do it together rather than two grouts and two densify steps which is normal for many operators. By doing it early after the coarse grinding which must be performed to level the floor if flatness and aggregate exposure is a requirement the grinding processes that follow will be less damaging to the diamond tooling resulting in longer life. To do this a grout and densifier combination product is used.

For more successful grouting a hybrid pad of metal bond and ceramic bond segments can be fitted which will help to flatten the grouting into the pores and crevices and prevent pulling out of the grouting. This is better than using metal bond segments which are harsh and can cause pullout of the grouting when the expectation is for the grouting to be complete at this stage.

With the grout and densifier combination the floor is hardened early without sacrificing the ability to generate grout material easily. From this stage onwards with the floor completely filled and hardened the resin bond pads will do a much faster and better job of polishing.
