Slip resistance is lower the higher the shine, however there are penetrating finishing products that can render a shiny floor anti slip both wet and dry. Dust is probably the biggest enemy because the highest shine will show it more readily so 800 grit finish seems to satisfy most home owners.

The depth of gloss is definitely better at the higher grit finishes, but this can also be enhanced by buffing the finishing sealers at lower grit levels which will make an 800 grit floor shine almost as beautifully as a 3,000 grit floor. The finishing sealers are penetrating so they fill in the microscopic pores without leaving a film on top.
