Follow on Google News | DOLPHIN DISCOVERY announces it´s 100 marine mammal calf• “Miracle” would be the #100 calf’s name, in honor to the program that began in 2002. • The reproduction program has bred 6 manatees, 12 sea lions and 82 dolphins.
To celebrate this important birth, on March 8th in a press conference and through Dolphin Discovery official social media accounts, the group will announce the details on how to participate and win a trip to one of the 22 parks of the group and meet Miracle. Additional goals of the reproduction program include scientific research, partnerships with animal welfare institutions and universities in order to develop degree thesis and reports about dolphins and manatees. Other benefits of these researches can be seen in stranded dolphin cases, because were recovered and reintroduced into the wild. A clear example is the recent case of Maya, a dolphin stranded in Cancun Hotel Zone, rescued and treated clinically until its return to the sea. “The birth success of the first and second generation calves is the result of continuous investment in first-class facilities that allow research, human capital and constant training. Our philosophy of love, protection and reproduction, allows us to promote care and respect for nature in general", said Eduardo Albor”, Dolphin Discovery Group CEO. Today the group has 5 dolphinariums that exclusively host’s dolphins that were born at Dolphin Discovery; Costa Maya, Puerto Aventuras, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Akumal, these facilities are known as “Miracle”.
