The Making of a Civic Creating the all-new Civic Coupe has been one of Honda’s most all-inclusive and involved endeavors, necessitating an unprecedented demand on Honda’s R&D resources and engineering expertise. Development for both the 2016 Civic Coupe and Civic Sedan has been led, for the first time ever for Honda and the Civic nameplate, by a team in North America. Design and engineering for the overall Civic series has also involved teams from Honda R&D, and global manufacturing and sales operations—particularly in North America but also in Europe, South America, and Asia—were also required. Details Onboard In addition to its all-new vehicle architecture, styling, and other elements, the Civic Coupe now features Honda Sensing safety and driver-assist technologies in the Touring trim. The new Civic Coupe also employs the very first application of Honda turbo engine technology for a Civic in the EX-T trims and higher. The Civic Coupe LX and LX-P trims are powered by a new 2.0L DOHC port-injected iVTEC engine. The EX-T, EX-L, and high-end Civic Touring are powered by the new turbocharged 1.5L DOHC direct-injected engine.
