North America Meets the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

BOSTON - April 4, 2016 - PRLog -- The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback prototype recently made its debut on the North American automotive scene prior to the start of the 2016 New York International Auto Show, showing off intriguing design and European-esque sporty driving chops.

Honda has confirmed that this new model will feature the all-new 1.5L turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, with the combo serving up a sportier and more dynamic performance.

Enter the Hatchback

The production version of this new Civic Hatchback is slated to hit dealerships later on in 2016, entering the automotive world as Honda's third new Civic variation and continuing Honda's rollout of its 10th-generation Civic models.

This Civic roster will wind up with the release of new Civic Si models and a new Civic Type R.

The 10th-generation Civic lineup is touted by Honda as being the broadest and sportiest array of Civic models to be released in the 44 years the nameplate has been in existence.

Feature Details

The new Civic Hatchback will be built on the same platform as the 10th-generation Civic Sedan, and the 1.5L engine will be the only powertrain offered onboard the model to be released in the U.S. market. This 1.5L DOHC direct-injected turbocharged engine can be coupled with either a continuously variable transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Civic Hatchback will boast a more confident stance thanks to larger and wider tires and wheels, and the exterior will feature a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a sophisticated-looking cabin area.

The Civic Hatchback will also feature LED headlights, daytime running lights, a muscular hood, sweeping body lines, and the iconic C-shaped rear LED lights.
