About Lecturer Jerry Schoen Gerard L. "Jerry" Schoen III is a fifth generation funeral director who began his career at the age 12 at the New Orleans funeral home his family established in 1874. In 1979, Jerry began his career at the newly completed funeral home, Lake Lawn Metairie. Since then, he has worked in virtually every position at the funeral home and has been a licensed director there for 37 years. He currently represents Lake Lawn Metairie as Community Outreach Director. Jerry has served as President of the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association, is a current member of the National Funeral Directors Association and holds a Board position with Save Our Cemeteries, Fireman's Charitable and Benevolent Association, and the Funeral Service Foundation Endowment Board.
