About Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is located at 1400 Washington Ave in New Orleans, LA, in the heart of the Garden District, between Washington, Sixth, Prytania, and Coliseum streets. Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is the oldest of the seven municipal, city-operated cemeteries in New Orleans. Once part of the Livaudais Plantation, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 was designated a city burial site in 1833, and has been in continuous use since. It is a non-segregated, non-denominational cemetery.
