MIAMI - May 9, 2016 - PRLog -- A prestigious nonprofit organization for the visual and the performing arts, The Children's Gallery and Arts Center, is joining efforts with South Dade Senior High School and Above the Skyline, a renowned local rock band, for a very innovative community-based cultural event that will take place at the gallery/studio located in Cauley Square, next May 21, 2016. The fine arts exhibition will showcase 10 mini-murals on canvas, 36 small pieces created by the high-schoolers, and the band that play a selection of rock music; which include several classic pieces.

Carlos Franco, Arts and Projects Director of the organization said: "This project is different from others we have developed; it targets the emotions of the audience in an abstract way and puts forward new concepts of plastic arts at the core of the American Pop Culture. We are welcoming the creative minds and expressions of a new generation of artists, not only those who are painters; we also want to include musicians. The Shape Of My Heart is all about what we have inside as individuals, the way we sense and relate to other peoples' feelings. The project wants to send a message of love to the world. On the other hand, that day we will celebrate the 7th anniversary of our organization; which was created May 21, 2009. " Franco added that this project is being sponsored by Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Homestead Center for the Arts and Macy's, besides individual donors from the local community.

Dianne Romero, a visual artist who is the Head of the Art Department in South Dade Senior High School Magnet Program, commented that she was very excited for the possibility of showing the work of her senior students at a professional level in an art gallery. "This opportunity would give our senior class a wonderful taste of the real world. Now they will have the chance to better understand the efforts of an artist, and the unique dynamics between artist/gallery/audience. This event will really boost my students' self-esteem, mainly if they make a sale that night. It will be wonderful".

On the other hand, Steven Green, manager of Above The Skyline immediately jumped-in when the gallery directors approach him for a possibility of collaborating with the plastic arts project. Above the Skyline is a band from South Florida playing rock originals and covers with diverse musical backgrounds and influences. Green said; "The band prides itself on being different but yet produces a sound that everyone can love and listen to with ease. They have a great fusion of styles and influences that are as unique as these talented musicians are".  The band recently donated a concert to the event Relay For Life; which was a solid success.

The art show will run from 2.30PM to 10.30PM at the gallery located at 22400 SW Old Dixie Hwy. Cottage # 15, Miami, FL 33170, inside the Historic Village of Cauley Square. The rock band will start playing at 7 PM. Free admission and parking.
