ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - June 1, 2016 - PRLog -- As swim season approaches, the YMCA of Orange County encourages children and parents to have their Best Summer Ever by exploring the many benefits of swimming. In the Y's swim programs, participants of all ages can enjoy learning new techniques, develop confidence and meet new friends, while also learning safety skills that can help save lives.

The YMCA Swim Program is a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels and every child participates and learns in a safe, exciting and fun environment. At the basis of this program is teaching our youth and their families the importance of staying safe around water, particularly in our under-served communities where the risk of water related injuries is higher. As a leading nonprofit committed to youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living, the Y has been a leader in providing swim lessons and water safety for more than a century. To continually ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Swim programs in Orange County include:
• Preschool, Youth and Adult Swim Lessons
• Parent/Child Swim Lessons
• Competitive Swim Teams
• Splashball/Water Polo
• CPR and Lifeguard Training

"One of the great things about the Y's swim program is that it's been so well developed over time. As a progressive program, we see a majority of kids of all ages start in the beginner classes and continue on through the program to the advanced class and even the swim team for those who are actively pursuing it as a sport," says Senior Program Director, Paul Tritle.

You may even see the USA Olympic Water Polo team training at the Santa Ana YMCA aquatics center from time to time as they prepare for this summer's games in Rio. "It has been a pleasure to partner with USA Water Polo and Segerstrom High School for the past 2 years. Their positive vibe, relentless commitment, and world class program has been a major asset to the Santa Ana Community," Tritle says.
