ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - June 20, 2016 - PRLog -- Emergency Communications Network (ECN), North America's largest provider of critical and mass notification systems, will be hosting an educational webinar entitled "Effective crisis communication: Best practices before a disaster strikes" this week.

"Understanding the key points of crisis communication is essential to having a plan and being able to execute it during a critical time," said Troy Harper, CodeRED Product Manager and former Emergency Management Chief for Flagler County, Florida. "Communicating to the public during a crisis can be chaotic, so having a plan in place before an emergency or critical event is ideal to keep residents informed and safe."

This webinar was created to encourage organizations and businesses to review their existing plans or develop enhanced emergency and crisis communication plans before a local crisis develops. During this webinar, former law enforcement, fire, and emergency management personnel will discuss their personal experiences with crisis communications and how effectively using a mass notification solution supported efforts to streamline communications during an emergency. The webinar will also focus on how to use a notification system more efficiently as a standard protocol in emergency responses.

"When information needs to be delivered as soon as possible and lives are at stake, failure is not an option," said Don Hall, ECN Director of Government Relations and former Emergency Manager for Calvert County, Maryland, Jacksonville, Florida, and Washington, DC. "Mass notifications can be an excellent tool to use for crisis communication, but the process and tools need to be documented, routinely rehearsed, and then correctly applied in order to maximize its reach and be useful in an emergency response."

The webinar will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 2pm EDT. To register for this webinar, please visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1861087632519036931 and fill out the required online form.
