FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - July 12, 2016 - PRLog -- The U.S. Commercial Service, along with the South Florida District Export Council, hosted the first of three premier international business conferences for 2016 – Discover Global Markets: The Americas in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Entering its third year, the Discover Global Markets (DGM) series of global business conferences is designed to help U.S. businesses expand sales, penetrate new markets, and boost their bottom line through exports. As a jumpstart to the DGM series, The Americas event took a targeted approach on ways to strengthen organizational brand development and turn challenges into profitable opportunities in Latin American markets. "The highest percentage of U.S. export growth comes from the Americas," stated Ken Hyatt, Acting Under Secretary for the International Trade Administration as he addressed participants. "The U.S. Commercial Service is here to advocate for you; in a world of limited resources, we want to help you more."

Attendees from over 250 companies engaged in the opportunity to participate in dynamic workshops and plenary sessions that highlighted best practices for taking their business global. In addition, the DGM forum's unique structure enabled attendees to meet one-on-one with U.S. Commercial Diplomats from 19 countries to formulate an export strategy that serves as a roadmap to success for doing business in the Americas.

"The U.S. Commercial Service is the most cost-effective way to enter into new markets – especially for small businesses," said Ed Ciampi, Vice President of Sales for Chicago Stainless Equipment, an attendee at this year's conference. "I would strongly recommend businesses reach out to their local specialists – which are basically everywhere – and start the process. They won't be disappointed."

"Beyond our involvement in DGM, this event is widely beneficial," said DGM guest panelist Cameron Javdani, Director of Sales and Marketing for Louroe Electronics. "You are able to speak with Commercial Diplomats from all over Latin America and gather market intelligence for many countries; all at a single event."

The Discover Global Markets series continues through 2016 with Healthcare Connections in Seattle, WA, September 13 – 15 and Building Smart Cities in Chicago, IL, November 1 – 3. Each conference brings together trade experts, industry leaders, and U.S. commercial diplomats via panels, one-on-one counseling and business-to-business matchmaking to provide exporters the critical next steps needed to transform market potential into market success.
