OAKTON, Va. - Aug. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Mosaic Harmony, an interfaith, multicultural community choir based in Oakton, mourns the loss of long time member, Donna Courtney, she was 79. Donna peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Donna became a staple in the Alto section and joined the choir in 2002. Donna's penchant for international travel was well known within the choir and, she regaled members with stories of her adventures but always noted it was good to be home.  .  "

Donna drew people to her wherever she lived through her great enthusiasm for life and deep genuine interest in others, regardless of their circumstances. As one of our unofficial Mosaic Harmony ambassadors, Donna's ready smile, can do spirit and her dedication to the choir never wavered.  Having been ill for most of the past season, she was determined to attend the spring concert and hear the music she loved to sing and see many long-time friends.Alto section leader Lenore Walsh noted, "Although she had been ill, the twinkle in the eyes was still there and we were thrilled to see her one more time, thankfully her enthusiasm when singing was captured in many pictures and videos for us to remember our dear friend for many years. She was a tireless supporter, member and friend whose voice and presence will be sorely missed."

Choir members write a mini bio about themselves to post on the choir's member section of their website and hers was simple: "I am a Realtor who loves to travel and visit my children and nine grandchildren. Singing with Mosaic Harmony brings great joy and peace to my life." Her children hope that all will be able to join the celebration of her life to be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 25th (Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton). In honor of her lifelong passion for music, for those wishing to make memorial donations her choir Mosaic Harmony is suggested (www.mosaicharmony.com/donate).
