HealthyWiser pH Test Strips Can Also Be Used For Soils

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Among the most common uses of the HealthyWiser pH test strips is to measure the pH levels of drinking water, urine and saliva to monitor your health in relation to knowing your risks to certain diseases. But did you know that these pH test strips can also be used to measure the pH balance of soil, which would help people determine the acidity or alkalinity of the materials they use for gardening?

In an article posted on website SF Gate, Angela Ryczkowski shared seven easy steps on measuring the pH level of soils in your gardens and landscape. She stated that a pH level of 7.0 indicates that the soil is acidic and a ph level of more than 7.0 tells that the soil is alkalinic.

"Soil affects nutrient availability and thus can greatly influence plant health," she wrote on the article.

There are various testing procedures that gardeners and plant caretakers can use to measure the pH level of their garden soil. As much as HealthyWiser's pH test strips for the soil provide accurate measurement for a person's health, it can also be used to test the levels of the soil. Unlike bringing them to a laboratory, testing them at home can provide convenience and quick results.

In order to test the pH level of your soil, you will need a teaspoon, two small plastic or glass containers, stirrer, distilled water, coffee filter, the soil itself and the HealthyWiser pH test strips for the soil.

·         Step One. In a small glass or plastic container such as a beaker or a kitchen glass, put in one to three teaspoons of soil.

·         Step Two. Fill the same container with the water until it reaches the same line level as the soil.

·         Step Three. Do some stirring with the stirrer for a minute until the substances get agitated. If you do not have a stirrer, you can shake the mixture thoroughly but be sure to add a cap on the container to avoid disorganized testing. After careful stirring, let the mixture settle for at least half an hour before the next step.

·         Step Four. On the second glass or plastic container, hold the coffee filer and pour in the soil mixture to allow the liquid part to drip and the soil particles to remain on the filter.

·         Step Five. Similar to the procedure done to test drinking water, dip in the HealthyWiser test strip in the soil solution now inside the second glass container.

·         Step Six. Wait for a few seconds until the color of the test strip changes and compare it with the chart found in the HealthyWiser box.

·         Step Seven. Now that you have found out the pH level of your soil, repeat the process using the soils from different areas of your garden. Experts advise on doing this in various seasons annually to monitor your plant health.
