Follow on Google News | The National Children's Cancer Society Awarded $5,000 Grant From Blues For KidsThe grant was awarded in support of the organization's Transportation Assistance Fund which alleviates the financial burden of travel and lodging for families who have a child with cancer. The funds will be allocated to those families battling childhood cancer living within a 100 radius of St. Louis, MO. "The St. Louis Blues are very generous to the local cancer community. This grant will help local families with the cost of fuel when they visit hospitals and rehabilitative centers for care. It will also allow some children to receive specialized care out-of-state that is not available in St. Louis," said Julie Komanetsky, vice president of patient and family services at NCCS. Blues for Kids has a mission to build St. Louis' future by positively impacting programs and services that improve health and wellness on the youth in the St. Louis area. "Blues for Kids is proud to be able to provide a grant to such a wonderful organization that helps families during their toughest times. The NCCS does amazing work in helping lessen the financial burden for families battling childhood cancer and it is important for us to assist in their efforts, "said Randy Girsch, director of the Blues for Kids Foundation.
