By: TRY Williams Consulting Group Every four years the Presiding Bishop must be re-elected to a new four-year term. Blake is the seventh Presiding Bishop since founder, C.H. Mason's first term began in 1907. The Presiding Bishop leads the denomination in tandem with a 12-member General Board. With great enthusiasm, Blake spoke about the spiritual, membership and fiscal growth and stability of COGIC. The denomination's community engagement and enrichment will continue to a priority during his next term. He outlined his desire to further emphasize the denomination's commitment to holiness living and teaching. At present, there have been no official announcements of competitors challenging Blake's position. "Bishop Blake is a bridge to the future for our denomination because he worked with some of the prior Presiding Bishops, he is an awesome, humble leader now, and the younger generation trust that he cares about what's important to us. COGIC is better now than it's ever been," said Natasha Williamson, a West Angeles COGIC member. West Angeles Church of God in Christ is the largest church within COGIC with a membership of 25,000 people. Blake has grown West Angeles from 50 members and a $12,000 budget to one of the largest congregations in the country. West Angeles has been recognized by President Obama and former President Bill Clinton for its community development and improvement of the inner-city of Los Angeles, where West Angeles is located. The COGIC Holy Convocation will take place from November 7 to November 15, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri. It is estimated that over 40,000 people will attend the COGIC convention that will host numerous services and a celebrity filled gospel concert. Each member of the 12-member "General Board" must be re-elected, as well as, the Presiding Bishop. "COGIC is blessed to have a spiritual leader like Bishop Blake, who is also a great business man. We are excited about where he is going to lead COGIC in the future," said Marcus Matthew, a visiting COGIC member. http://www.WestA.org http://www.cogic.org/ End
