SHELBYVILLE, Ky. - Nov. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- The mother-daughter team of Joyce Nethery and Autumn Nethery is opening the first locally-owned distillery to come to Shelby County, KY, since Prohibition. On Friday, Nov. 11, Jeptha Creed will open its doors to the public for tours and tastings. The farm-to-bottle bourbon and spirits craft distillery will offer three different bourbons – available in 2019 – an unflavored vodka along with honey-flavored vodka and an unflavored moonshine plus lemonade-flavored moonshine.

"An heirloom corn variety called Bloody Butcher Corn differentiates us from the big guys," said Joyce Nethery, whose background in chemical engineering and as a process engineer in an industrial‐scale distillation process played a key role in the development of Jeptha Creed spirits.

To celebrate the distillery's Friday opening, complimentary tours with a tasting will take place every half hour from 2-6 p.m. Tours are first come first serve with a maximum of 15 guests per tour. In honor of Veterans Day, a 10 percent discount will be offered to veterans and active duty military in the retail shop and bar.

The distillery is located on the Nethery family's 64-acre farm. Nethery's husband Bruce's background is in farming. Their daughter, Autumn, spent a school year in Edinburgh, Scotland, studying brewing and distilling at Heriot‐Watt University, one of the UK's leading universities for business and industry. Her younger brother Hunter is thinking about a career in engineering, a perfect fit for the family distillery business.

"We love our family history and heritage and wanted to build a legacy for our children," said Joyce Nethery. "We also wanted to build something that would attract people to Shelby County."

The development of Jeptha Creed represents an investment of over $3 million. Fifteen employees will be hired over the next five years. Nethery estimates the distillery will have 11,000 visitors in its first year.

The Netherys are growing their own corn as well as their own produce and fruits. One of the distillery tours will take visitors all over the farm to see the corn, fruits, apple trees and other grains grown, available in the spring. Another tour will focus on the distillery itself. Both tours will conclude with a tasting. The tour fee is $10 per person. Those not taking a tour can order specialty cocktails or get a tasting flight of Jeptha Creed products at the distillery's cocktail bar.

In addition to the farm, a 15,000-square-foot distillery and two barrel aging barns, Jeptha Creed will have a clubhouse for hosting weddings, luncheons, business meetings and other events. To learn more about Shelbyville's new distillery, visit www.JepthaCreed.com.
