Kentucky destination reaches out as world hits 'pause'

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - March 31, 2020 - PRLog -- Social distancing is keeping everyone at home, but there are still plenty of ways to experience one of Kentucky's and America's most picturesque small towns: Georgetown, KY. Embark on virtual and video tours; order and pay for delicious meals and unique gifts and other items from home and pick up curbside; create Georgetown chef recipes at home and photograph and share via social media; and read stories about our neighbors' acts of kindness, big reveals about secret treasures hidden away in various attractions and behind-the-scenes scoop about what lodgings, attractions, restaurants and retail shops are doing to prepare for when they can welcome visitors back in person.

Georgetown/Scott County Tourism invites virtual explorers to come along to Kentucky's Horse Headquarters over the next few weeks on a homecation adventure as the staff brings Georgetown to you through videos, stories and images.

"We plan to keep our visitors up to date with all the latest information, including lists of all of Georgetown's fantastic restaurants and retail venues you can still enjoy by shopping, ordering and picking up curbside," said Lori Saunders, executive director at Georgetown/Scott County Tourism. "We'll be sharing video and virtual tours of our attractions and talking with our hoteliers for their practical tips that can be applied at home and so much more."

Here's what's on the virtual-visit itinerary:

·       Video and virtual tours of attractions, including Toyota Manufacturing, Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Center and others

·       Updated lists of dozens and dozens of restaurants and retail venues offering curbside pickup

·       Stories about our community's acts of kindness during these uncertain times

·       Quick reads about Georgetown hoteliers, chefs/restaurateurs, shop/boutique owners and attractions, plus recipes, hotel-to-home hacks and more

·       Big reveals about those little-known treasures tucked away in Georgetown's historical homes, museums, attractions and other venues

·       A special hashtag, #GtownIsMyTown, where visitors can find stories and images – and use to tag their own Georgetown stories and images

·       Insider tips about Georgetown's outdoor attractions that visitors can still experience in person to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine (while following the social distancing and health guidelines of Gov. Andy Beshear and health organizations)
