MIAMI - Dec. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Keyboardist and composer, Tom Alexander's fourth studio album "Overbrook Avenue," featuring 11 new tracks, seven of which are original compositions, is currently available via iTunes and other major digital distributors.

Alexander, joined by guitarist John Fifield on much of the recording, considers the album to be his most personal musical statement to date. He conceived "Overbrook Avenue" as a soundtrack accompaniment to the first 17 years of his life — spent at the home and neighborhood where he grew up in Pennsylvania.

"This is a musical valentine to a very special time and place and the people who populated it," the pianist says.

Initially, Alexander intended the album to be strictly a solo piano project, but says it evolved during the early stages of recording.

"It became evident to me that expanding the sonic palette a bit would be a good idea, while maintaining an intimate musical feel. I added some supporting keyboards, and asked my good friend, John Fifield, to join me on several tracks. What emerged was totally unexpected."

Alexander, also a screenwriter, voice actor, and broadcaster, spent the first half of his life working in his family's movie theatres in Pennsylvania. Those formative years played an integral role in this album and inspired many of the compositions.

"Being surrounded by the music and movies from that time and working alongside my dad and his brothers was undeniably impactful. They are days I'll treasure forever, and it's reflected in the music."

Alexander (http://www.tomalexandermusic.com) has composed for motion pictures and television as well as jingles for commercials. He has also served as musical director for nationally syndicated radio shows. His varying musical influences range from classical and jazz to rock, world, and funk. His group, Earth Code, is a fusion-jazz ensemble that synthesizes all these styles.

"Much of this music is a departure from what I might normally play with my band, which is often fiery and complex," Alexander adds. "This is more contemplative, melodic, and evocative. I think the best way to describe it is cinematic."

"Overbrook Avenue" debuted Monday, December 12th on iTunes and over all major digital music platforms.

Alexander recorded and is currently mixing another album, "Tones From the Middle Distance," with his group, Earth Code. He is planning a summer of 2017 release.
