Follow on Google News | JAZZIZ Magazine Features Earth Code song, "Rafina" in Latest IssueFusion powerhouse trio's recording "Tones From the Middle Distance" being recognized for exciting compositions.
By: Alexander Productions JAZZIZ writer, Brian Zimmerman says of the piece, "Rafina begins with the searching strains of a melodica and a rolling fog of synth chords, setting the stage for a genre-bending excursion that threads through landscapes of jazz fusion, prog, world music and more. The members of this South Florida collective share an affinity for lockstep grooves and precision movement, yet their compositions permit all kinds of rhythmic and harmonic fluidity, changing shape and color on the fly. On Rafina, a searing guitar solo winds its way through a labyrinthine chord structure, entering new sonic dimensions with every downbeat." Earth Code's keyboardist and principal composer, Tom Alexander, states that the group and the music in particular, are beginning to get some traction. "It's a real kick that our compositions are getting recognition," Alexander's bandmates include, drummer/co-founder, Tommy G. Lee, and bassist, Rusty Heck, who replaced Shawn Saul, the bassist on the recording. The guest guitarist on "Rafina" is Audric Jankauskas. The group is currently at work on their next album.
