By: Chalk Hill Brewery Chalk Hill Brewery ran the 'Name our stout' competition before Christmas and the winning entry was submitted anonymously at the Coach & Horses pub on Thorpe Road. Black Anna stood out among all the entries and the winner was chosen. Three runners up were Vinyl Tap from Gary Power, The Anti-Chalk from Ian Clarke and Inkflappers from James Yaxley, each of whom have been awarded six pints of any Chalk Hill ale. Robbie Wincup, head brewer at Chalk Hill Brewery, said: "We were really surprised at the response to our 'Name our stout' competition – we had hundreds and hundreds of entries. It was a hard job choosing the winner but the name that was head and shoulders above the rest was Black Anna. It suits the stout perfectly, has longevity and the Norwich pub history around it just made it the clear winner. It's such a shame we don't know who submitted it but we would love to be able to find some of Black Anna's family and give them the opportunity to try the stout themselves and enjoy the prize." The prize is 18 pints of ale from Chalk Hill Brewery and a fully escorted brewery tour and beer tasting. Available now as a limited run, Black Anna stout can be purchased from Chalk Hill Brewery, and is on tap at the Coach & Horses pub and The Alexandra Tavern. In addition, Black Anna stout, along with Chalk Hill's Flintknappers Mild, will be available at the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival, taking place from 21 – 25 February at St. Andrew's and Blackfriars Hall in Norwich.
