PRLog -- Collagenases and Gelatinases are metalloproteinases. Collagenases can digest native collagen and are involved in connective tissue turnover. On the other hand, Gelatinases degrade gelatins and other extracellular matrix proteins. Collagenases and Gelatinases may play a role in tumor cell invasion of the extracellular matrix during cancer metastasis. Traditional methods for the detection of these proteases include non-specific, peptide-based substrates and Zymography studies using eletrophoretic techniques. However, these assays are laborious, time consuming and inaccurate. BioVision's Collagenase and Gelatinase Activity Assay Kits utilizes specific, highly quenched substrates that release a fluorophore, upon cleavage by a suitable active enzyme. Our kits are simple, fast, and high-throughput adaptable that are aimed to the detection of collagenase and gelatinase activities in biological samples.
