Staker Parson Companies/ralph L. Wadsworth I-215 Project Made Top Ten Roads List

OGDEN, Utah - Nov. 7, 2017 - PRLog -- Staker Parson Companies and Ralph Wadsworth Construction's Interstate 215 project in Utah made the Top Ten Roads list by Roads & Bridges magazine in October. The 43.4 lane mile I-215 (300 East to S.R. 201) project designed by Avenue Consultants and owned by Utah Department of Transportation came in at number nine. The project spanned West Valley City, Taylorsville City and Murray City, Utah. The project includes reconstruction and widening as well as asphalt rotomill and overlay.

"This project has exceeded my expectations on how well we partnered to deliver a quality project that meets the transportation needs of the western Wasatch Front, kept traffic moving during and after construction, stayed under budget, and will open in time to handle the winter holiday season!" UDOT Project Manager Oanh Le-Spradlin said.

Approximately 125 thousand cars travel through the work zone on a day-to-day basis. The project limits include six separate interchanges, including two freeway-to-freeway interchanges (I-15/I-215 south and I-215/S.R. 201) so the team had to carefully plan the construction phasing and maintenance of traffic to accommodate all traffic flows. The companies successfully planned the phasing in order to allow all four lanes to be open in both directions for the majority of heavy-traffic times, inflicting minimum to no delay for commuters. The project began May of 2016, and also overcame the challenge of falling during one of the wettest and coldest winters the Salt Lake Valley had experienced in recent years. The project should have substantial completion by November 19, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. All subsequent items left to complete after the holiday won't impact traffic.
