United Premier Soccer League Announces Colorado Expansion with Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 7, 2017 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake as a new member starting with the 2018 Spring Season.

Based in Denver (Colo.), Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake will begin UPSL play in the Colorado Conference.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The Championship Division in the UPSL's Colorado Conference will get even more intense in next season as we're excited to welcome Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake as a new member of our league. The club, founded by Max Fowler, is grounded in serving its community and already has engendered generous support from a number of local and international partners. We wish Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake luck as it readies for kickoff in 2018."

Operated by Max Fowler, a former collegiate and academy coach, Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake is a registered non-profit that aims to bridge the cultural gaps in its community.

Fowler is a native of Chardon, Ohio, played at Walsh University (NAIA) and Lake Erie College (NAIA) before a stint as a reserve with the Cleveland Caps (USISL Division 3) in the late 1990s. He currently holds a United Soccer Coaches National 'B' Coaching License.

Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake Director and Manager Max Fowler said, "Our effort is to create a club that is much more a natural extension of community identity as was the case in many of the origins stories of the top European and South American clubs. We live in a very socio-economically diverse area so we started the men's team to build that connection."

The club has partnered locally with Edgewater, Colo.-based businesses Joyride Brewing and WINE BEER FAT, a deli and wine/beer bar, and is officially supplied by JOMA.

"We wanted local sponsors and our belief is that we have a social obligation to raise funds for the local high school and local charities," Fowler said. "We have become partners with businesses in our community who have the same mindset. We look after each other. Take care of each other."

Athletic Club of Sloan's Lake will play its UPSL home games at Lakewood Memorial Field (7655 10th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80214) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards. The team soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 100 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 125-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
