Follow on Google News | Vice President Sri M Venkaiah Naidu inspires Graduating Students at 34th Banasthali ConvocationMonsoon Clouds do not save water to quench their thirst but to quench the thirst of millions of humans on earth. Similarly, the degree in graduating student hand is not for individual glory but to add glory to the society, nation and world at large.
By: Banasthali Banasthali Vice Chancellor Prof Aditya Shastri gave the welcome address highlighting the evolution of Bansathali as an institution and the unique education model for empowering women. There was a thunderous applause from the audience when Prof Aditya Shastri gave a biography of Hon'ble Vice President describing his rise from very humble beginnings to the very top in India. Pro Vie Chancellor Banasthali Prof Ina Shastri called the doctoral candidates to come on stage and subsequently various Deans which included Prof Sarla Pareek, Prof Ritu Vijay, Prof Vinay Sharma, Prof Harsh Purohit, Prof Vandana Goswami, Prof Himadri Ghosh, Prof Rashmi Sharma, Prof Shaily Sharma, Prof Preeti Sharma called out the names of their respective faculty students. Banasthali President Prof Chita Purohit administered the oath to all graduating students and urged them to dedicate their life to betterment of others. In all 3843 students received their degree certificates at the 34th convocation. After awarding gold medal to 99 toppers of different streams, Hon'ble Vice President delivered the convocation address. There was a big round of applause, when he said that it was indeed a honour for him to address the graduating students of world's largest fully residential university for women. He paid rich tributes to the Banasthali founders Pandit Hiralal Shastri and Smt Ratan Shastri and urged the graduating students to become transformational forces to bring radical changes in families, society and nation at large. He appreciated the Panchmukhi Shiksha – Five Fold Education Model of Banasthali which provided holistic approach and enabled character building and said that it was worth emulating by other institutions also. When girls elsewhere were learning to ride bicycles, Banasthali girls have been doing horse riding, rifle shooting and aviation. When he mentioned that Ft Lt Avani Chaturvedi one of the first women fighter pilot in Indian Air Force was a Banasthalite, the roar hit the top of Richter scale. He urged the alumni of Banasthali to make life long bonds with their Alma mater. He appreciated Banasthali for significantly contributing to science education and research by tripling enrollment in Basic Science programs. Mentioning that for motherland to raise to great heights, women empowerment is a must and only education can bring that empowerment and congratulated the prominent role of Banasthali for taking up women education and empowerment as a mission with passion. He urged the graduating students not to ignore national missions like Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Digital India, Skill India, Make in India etc. The establishment of AIC Atal Incuabtion Centre at Banasthali will also nurture women entrepreneurs who would be role models for Start Up India campaign. He concluded his speech wishing Banasthali to be among World University Rankings by being a pace setter in Women's education and continue as a fountain head of knowledge. On behalf of Banasthali, President Prof Chitra Purohit presented a glittering memento to Hon'ble Vice President Shri M Venkaiah Naidu and Vice President Prof Siddharth Shastri who proposed the vote of thanks honoured him with a shawl. As part of the Convocation function, Banasthali had made elaborate arrangements for all dignitaries and parents to visit various departments, a spectacular air show, rifle shooting display and horse riding prowess. The students, alumni, parents and faculty of Banasthali who attended the 34th Convocation left with beaming faces displaying a pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the women's universities not only in India today but across the globe.
