Adani's Dredging Fleet Becomes Largest after Latest Acquisitions

AHMEDABAD, India - Jan. 19, 2018 - PRLog -- Adani Group's Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) division has been going from strength to strength in recent years under CEO Karan Adani, and their acquisition of two new trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs) has just reaffirmed the same. The company's latest acquisitions have catapulted them ahead of its competitors as it now has the largest dredging fleet in India.

The dredgers which were designed and engineered by the Royal IHC were delivered to the company at Holland in December 2017. The unveiling of the two new dredgers takes the total number of TSHDs operated by APSEZ to total of 19. The new vessels are also one of the largest ever seen on Indian shores. They were delivered at the Hazira port in Gujarat after its maiden journey through the historic Suez Canal.

Mr. Adani was delighted to start off the new year on a high with his company's latest additions. He said in a company statement, "This will substantially increase our capacity for dredging in APSEZ. These TSHDs are a big asset, as they will also support dredging efforts in other Indian ports and facilitate in port-led initiatives of the government." He also confirmed that the dredgers have been registered under the Indian flag and classified under the Indian Register of Shipping. This means that they can be implemented for operations without any delay.

The Hazira Port is also maintained and operated by the Adani Group under the name Adani Hazira Port Pvt Ltd (AHPPL). The dredgers will benefit from the port's strategic location near the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) along the west coast that is accountable for a huge chunk of the country's trade.
