Follow on Google News | ![]() WNFC Coyotes Earn 3 Points in Home OpenerBy: Western Nevada FC Coyotes The game early on was very fast paced with both teams showing impressive technical ability with also pure athleticism and speed to get numbers around the ball on the defensive end. Western Nevada FC really implemented their fast and furious soccer throughout the game with their high endurance and abilities to pressure the ball as a unit. Kieran Toland on his debut was a strong force in both ends of the field. Toland was able to find Salifu Jatta for the first goal of the game for WNFC that came in the 33rd minute. It later became half time seeing the score as a draw at 1-1. Kieran was not done yet on the offensive end where right out of the half time dressing room he was able to find Michael Cole on a beautifully timed run to make it 2-1 in the 48th minute. California Victory got one back though to make it 2-2. Will Nuttall with good instincts was able to find his name on the score sheet with a tricky rebound finish for the teams 3rd in the 63rd minute. The game at this point is 3-2 in favor of the Coyotes with the team pushing for one more with high work rates from everybody on the field. Pablo Gervacio with a well-timed ball to Michael Cole was able to seal the deal with the 4th goal in the 74th minute. California could not overcome the 4-2 deficit that the Coyotes were able to finalize in the second half. After the game GM and Head Coach Ian Hill had some things to say about the 4-2 win, "It is a good win against a quality opponent. California Victory FC was last year's National Championship Finalist and are a talented and skilled side, so a win against them is always a good victory! I was especially excited to see Michael Cole, who is coming back from injury, excel with two goals and most importantly great pressing defense. Also excited to have Kieran Toland, he had 2 assists in his first game with us, with only 4 days of training. He is going to be a special player." Michael Cole played an instrumental part in the attack for the Coyotes where he tallied two goals. He also tallied 10 interceptions of the opposing teams passes in his defensive efforts. Cole had this to say following the game, "I believe during the game we played with the best chemistry of the season and because of that I was able to make the right runs and the right passes were made." Chemistry has been something that the new team has been looking for and it was evident Saturday night that the team will always have each other's backs with the willingness to work hard for one another. Anthony Chinchilla was all over in the Central Midfield for the Coyotes Saturday night where he found a lot of success getting on the ball to keep in possession. Chinchilla talked a bit about the match and his play, "My thoughts on the game is that we played our style of play but used the movement of the ball to wear them down. They were a very technically gifted team but could not handle our effort and energy. There were times where we lost sight of the game and fell into their game which was trying to start problems with them as well. We came out of that and I believe we dominated the game. I feel like I played my most consistent game offensively and defensively. There wasn't a doubt in that game where I thought we were going to lose. My teammates showed me what kind of heart we had. I live my teammates and look out.... we're going to take this league by storm." The Western Nevada FC Coyotes currently stand in 3rd place with 9 points and 3 matches played. The second place team has 10 points while the leader has 12 points and both teams have played 5 matches. The Coyotes next match is this Saturday where they travel to Oregon to take on Southern Oregon Starphire FC set to kick off at 7pm.
