Coyotes win Wild West Championship

RENO, Nev. - July 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Apparently Mother Nature is the only one that has been able to stop the Nevada Coyotes this season.

After lightning forced the cancellation of the originally scheduled Wild West Championship match against JASA RWC on July 14, the two teams squared off again this past Saturday. With the smoke from several fires in the area looming in the air, the Coyotes dispatched of JASA 4-0 to win the playoff championship to go along with their regular season and conference cup titles. The win also completes the Wild West Treble for the squad.

The Coyotes took control of the game early and held a sizeable time of possession advantage, but they were unable to put anything on the board until the 33rd minute when Salifu Jatta knocked home his team-leading 14th goal of the season, giving the Coyotes a 1-0 advantage.

The team kicked the intensity up a notch at the start of the 2nd half as A-1, Anibal Echeverria, scored less than one minute in to double the lead to 2-0. Michael Cole would grab a goal in the 53rd minute, and Kieran Toland would then close the scoring off a set piece in the 71st minute to give the Coyotes the final 4-0 score line.

With the win, the Coyotes advance to the Western Conference Championship game where they will take on Santa Ana Winds FC from the Southern California division. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 4 in Fresno, CA. The exact time and location of the match is still to be announced. The winner of that match will represent the Western Conference in the UPSL National Championships starting on August 10 in Denver, CO.

The win caps an amazing Wild West season for the Coyotes that saw the team go 15-2-0 in all competitions. The two draws were to JASA on April 28 (4-4) and to California Victory in the finals of the Wild West Cup on July 21 (1-1, Coyotes won in penalties 11-10).

NOTES: The Coyotes end all Wild West play scoring 73 goals and only allowing 11 for a goal differential of +62. Since the draw against JASA, the Coyotes have played 11 matches, scoring 50 goals while only allowing 3.

Dating back to last December, the Coyotes are riding a 19-match UPSL unbeaten streak.
