History

If we talk about the Sitar of Ravi Shankar style, it has 2 resonance boxes, 7 playing strings and 13 resonant strings while the Vilayat Khan style Sitar has 1 resonance box, 6 playing strings and 11 resonant strings. How to play
For playing the Sitar of both the kinds, the player has to sit on the floor. The lower body sits at the foot of the musician and the upper body is kept in slanted position in front of the player at about 45 degrees.
