Continental Hair Celebrates 20 Years At Sunnybrook Hospital!

TORONTO - June 14, 2018 - PRLog -- The country's oldest and longest-serving private wig salon, Sunnybrook Wig Salon, turns 20! And to celebrate, Sunnybrook salon founder and the owner of Continental Hair, Michael Suba, is commemorating the occasion by hosting a luncheon to celebrate the nurses, doctors, medical staff and patients that have supported the boutique salon for the last two decades. Everyone is invited to attend the anniversary event at Sunnybrook's M6 Atrium on Friday, June 15^th, 2018 from Noon-2pm. The event will include remarks from Suba, food, drink and a token of appreciation.

Sunnybrook hospital holds a special place in Suba's heart, which he credits with saving his life when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease as well as his parents, through heart surgery. It was Suba's own stint as a patient undergoing treatment that inspired him to start this in-hospital location. After being diagnosed, Suba underwent treatment alongside a number of patients who he learned were clients of his parents. Most of them women, they opened up to him about how having a well-made wig, and a compassionate ear, helped them manage one of the dreaded side-effects of treatment, hair loss. While he had no intention of being involved in the family business prior, these interactions with patients made him realize just how important his parents' Yorkville wig salon was to the women who had suffered hair loss due to treatment and he vowed to create a salon at the hospital if he survived. His goal was to offer an accessible wig salon that specialized in hair loss solutions for people undergoing cancer treatment, offering them an on-site location that saved them a trip downtown, in the privacy of the hospital, and that would be alleviate them of another 'chore' while trying to negotiate the fear and pain.
