Victorian sterling silver trophy cup. Made by James Dixon & Sons in Sheffield in 1889. Campana bowl on baluster spool stem on gadrooned and domed foot. Side handles scroll brackets with leaf-wrapped volute-scroll split mounts. Each has cast horse mount Chased and repousse scrolls and flowers on stippled ground. Domed cover with gadrooning and cast figural finial of standing jockey. Gilt interior. Two scrolled frames: One has engraved track scene with mounted horses going here and there, the grandstand in the background; the other vacant. A historic piece with room to record the winners of a 21st-century race.

In leather-bound shaped case with two hinged doors and silk and velvet lining. Hallmarked. Very good condition.

Dimensions: Trophy: 18 x W 12 1/2 x D 7 1/4 in. Weight: 83.5 troy ounces. Case: H 20 3/4 x W 16 1/2 x D 8 1/2 in.
