Namesake and Co-Founder of Sandie's Candies & More Passes Away

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - June 27, 2019 - PRLog -- On the morning of June 26th, 2019, a well-known and widely-loved local confectioner—Sandy Thompson—succumbed to an illness she had been battling.  Sandy Thompson passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Sandy Thompson was renowned in Southern Oregon as the co-founder of Sandie's Candies & More, a cannabis-infused candy company she started in 2014 with her husband, Dale Thompson.  Sandy's mission had always been to help others, and she got started on the path to offering cannabis-based relief to countless people all over the state of Oregon back in the 1970s when a friend was diagnosed with cancer.  Later, in 2014, Sandy and her husband Dale officially started Sandie's Candies & More, and began offering their products to medical marijuana patients through Oregon's OMMP program.

Sandy's daughter, Kala Thompson, posted the following statement on the Sandie's Candies & More Facebook page on June 26th, 2019: "Today our hearts are heavy, Sandy lost her battle with her illness today. She took her last breath surrounded by family. She loved everyone and it was her mission to help as many people as she could. Her memory will live on through Sandies Candies and the lives she touched. Thank you everyone for your support."

In 2018, Sandy and Dale Thompson licensed the Sandie's Candies brand to Sun God Medicinals, an herbal, hemp and cannabis processor in Central Point, OR.  Today, Sun God Medicinals manufactures hard candies, peanut brittle, and caramels infused with THC and/or CBD under the Sandie's Candies & More brand. These products continue to be available in OLCC-licensed cannabis dispensaries all over Oregon and the CBD-only versions of these confections are currently available to order nationwide.
