"Valerie's House is a haven for children and families who have lost a parent or loved one," Mrs. Martin said. "We are honored to support this important cause once again and hope the community will join us to lift up those who grieve and walk along with them on their journey of healing." ABC7 evening news anchor, Krista Fogelsong, will emcee the event, which includes an open bar cocktail hour along Miromar Lakes Beach and a gourmet-seated dinner inside. The highlight of the evening will be a special program introducing children of Valerie's House and showcasing a gallery of their artwork. "We look forward to sharing the story of Valerie's House with our community," said Angela Melvin, CEO and founder of Valerie's House. "Together, with the funds raised from our Sunset Soiree, we are able to stay at the forefront of addressing childhood trauma so that no child has to grieve alone." The annual event provides a substantial investment in Valerie's House life-changing, healing programs that include support groups for grieving children, their parents, families and other caregivers at no cost. Melvin adds, "We know that by connecting with others who are grieving in a supportive environment children and families can work through the loss of a loved one together and go on to live fulfilling lives."
