iTEAM USA Esports Crowns League of Legends State Champion for 2019

ALPINE, Utah - Dec. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- In the first ever iTEAM USA League of Legends tournament, Westlake High School, The Thunder,  Saratoga Springs, Utah took first place.  They are the 2019 Champions.  The event was held December, 14th 2019 at The University of Utah, EAE building.  Students competed while the event was broadcast live across the nation as fellow students "shoutcasted" and commented on game play.  Second place went to Skyridge High School in Lehi, Utah and third place went to American Fork High School, American Fork Utah.

iTEAM USA wishes to thank the University of Utah EAE department for hosting and for all who particpated in this event.  Special thanks goes to the advisors and bus drivers from the local schools for giving up time on a Saturday.

iTEAM USA was created to encourage student career and technical development in the innovative technology, entertainment arts, and multimedia fields. By partnering industry and employers with educators, we collaborate on skills-based engagements to better align the needs of industry and students with cutting edge curriculum.

ITEAM USA is a structured gateway to get high school students interested in CS and
IT. We want to increase exposure, working with states as they implement K-12 CS standards nationally. Many students don't realize the numerous opportunities in every industry that will become available to them through participation in CS and IT courses.  Esports may be the thing that gets them in the door, but the competitions and certifications that promote careers and job opportunities in every content area will benefit them for a lifetime.

Equity and diversity have traditionally been barriers for students to have the opportunity to compete in competitions like ours. iTEAM USA is going to tear down these barriers. Our goal is to let any school or student join that has interest by removing any financial and connectivity barriers.

Our mission is focused on the whole-person development of each student by 1) Promoting physical, mental, and social well-being. 2) Developing character, leadership, and civic initiative. 3) Establishing the technical skills, work ethic, and dependability that are critical to employability.

iTEAM USA is teaming up with the UHSAA, Cyberpatriot, Vex Robotics, Silicon Slopes,  U of U, SLCC, UVU, and many others. Our state conference is scheduled April 2^nd and 3^rd at Utah Valley University.
