By: Good Shepherd Ministries When: Wednesday, December 26, 2019, between 12:00 noon and 2:30 p.m. Where: Good Shepherd Centre, 412 Queen Street East (Queen St. E. & Parliament St.) On Boxing Day from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., Good Shepherd Centre (412 Queen Street East) will serve its annual festive meal. The meal is offered free of charge to anyone in need. Our grateful thanks go to the many donors who make it possible to prepare a meal that requires: • 1,600 pounds (726 kilos) of roast beef • 26 gallons (100 liters) of gravy • 1,500 pounds (680 kilos) of potatoes • 530 pounds (240 kilos) of frozen mixed vegetables • 150 dozen buns (1,800 buns) • 1,600 individual butter packets & individual creamers • 1,600+ sugar packets • 50 pounds (23 kilos) of juice crystals • 150 12-inch apple pies topped with whipped cream • 20 pounds (9 kilos) of ground coffee Thank you as well to the 70 volunteers who come on Boxing Day to serve the restaurant-style meal. Volunteers will also distribute a gift to each guest. Others will help make beds and sort donated food. In all, more than 80 volunteers help to make this special day possible. Good Shepherd Ministries is a charity located in downtown Toronto that provides food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and other vital services for people struggling with poverty and homelessness.
