Good Shepherd Ministries to serve 1500 Thanksgiving Meals

Serving up holiday meals to homeless and at-risk individuals on Monday October 14

TORONTO - Oct. 10, 2024 - PRLog -- From 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., Good Shepherd Centre (412 Queen Street East) will be serving a festive holiday meal for those in need in our community. The meal is offered free of charge.

What does it take to serve 1,500 meals? It takes donors, volunteers and coworkers to help prepare and serve restaurant style all the ingredients for a festive turkey dinner including:

60 turkeys
40 litres (11 gallons) of gravy
60 kilograms (132 pounds) of cranberry sauce
454 kilos (1,000 pounds) of potatoes
91 kilos (200 pounds) mixed veggies
136 kilos (300 pounds) of stuffing from scratch
160 pumpkin pies

Good Shepherd Centre runs Toronto's largest free meal program, serving meals 365 days a year to any individual in need. In 2023, Good Shepherd provided 330,020 meals to those experiencing food insecurity.
