This is the first year MSW has seen a tie for the People's Choice Award. Main Street Waterbury's Design committee, part of Main Street America's four-point approach to downtown revitalization, addresses the physical characteristics and beautification of our City's center district. The Design committee is volunteer based, led by Anabela Maia, and organizes a window display contest for a friendly competition among downtown Waterbury businesses and its organizations. The goal is simple: enhance and transform business and organization storefronts through visual display that brings holiday cheer to the community. In simpler terms, decorate and display windows for the holiday season. The committee hopes to bring back the Holiday Bar decorating contest in 2021, a category that was suspended due to the pandemic and current State of CT re-opening classifications. 2020 categories and winners: Best Overall Holiday Window Display: Signature's Restaurant located at 29 Leavenworth St. Best Outdoor Display: Signature's Restaurant located at 29 Leavenworth St. Most Creative: Waterbury Police Union on Bank St. Best Visual Impact: Post University at 140 Bank St People's Choice: Signature's Restaurant located at 29 Leavenworth St. and The Boilery Seafood & Grill at 495 Union St. in the Brass Mill Center Mall Main Street Waterbury would also like to thank all the participating businesses and organizations who decorated as well as those who participated in voting.
