Main Street Waterbury announces 2021 People's Choice Winners

 
WATERBURY, Conn. - Jan. 5, 2022 - PRLog -- Main Street Waterbury (MSW) has announced the People's Choice winners for its annual Holiday Window Display Contest.  City Pizza and Espresso joins in second-year winner, Signature's Restaurant & Bar.  City Pizza and Espresso, under the ownership of Neil Perrotti, is located at 182 Grand St. Signature's Restaurant & Bar under the ownership of Diane Gorman, is located at 29 Leavenworth St.

The People's Choice award is selected based on the total number of online & paper votes received from the community for each participating business.

MSW's Design committee, one of Main Street America's four-point approaches to downtown revitalization, addresses the physical characteristics and beautification of Downtown. The Committee led by Anabela Maia organizes a window display contest for a friendly competition among downtown Waterbury businesses. This year a Magical Downtown Holiday Stroll was organized where merchants remained open for extended holiday shopping hours with tasty bites and beverages for strollers. Additional entertainment included magic & fortune with Cyril the Sorcerer, Santa Claus Al, holiday music with Judah's Camp Studios, and the Waterbury PAL Choir. The goal is simple: create and transform storefronts through festive visual displays and programming that attracts and encourages shopping opportunities.

Best Overall Holiday Window Display: 1st place - The Black Cat Spiritual Store & Botanica
2nd place – Waterbury Police Union

Best Design: 1st place - The Black Cat Spiritual Store & Botanica
2nd place – Mattatuck Museum

Best Visual Impact: 1st place: The Black Cat Spiritual Store & Botanica and
2nd place: City Pizza and Espresso

Most Creative: 1st place: The Black Cat Spiritual Store & Botanica and
2nd Place: Mattatuck Museum

People's Choice:  1st place: Signature's Restaurant and City Pizza and Espresso
2nd place: The Black Cat Spiritual Store & Botanica
3rd place: Grand News Deli

MSW would also like to thank all the participating businesses and those who participated in the voting.  Their support helped bring joy into downtown Waterbury.  In addition, MSW thanks The City of Waterbury for their efforts in decorating the light poles and hosting the annual Tree Lighting on the Green, and volunteer Wayne Violette for his time in decorating the planters with holiday greens. The Waterbury Police Dept, the Waterbury PAL Choir, Cyril the Sorcerer, Santa Claus Al, and Judah's Camp Studios all provided for a safe and friendly event.
