Follow on Google News | Downtown Waterbury Receives More Community Involvement & Support of Pole Banner Sponsorship ProgSince its inception, more than 65 pole banners have been sponsored and installed throughout the downtown Waterbury area. This has led to an increased awareness of community support to serve the needs of an ever changing downtown. Over the years, the program has had two design variations and is currently in its final stage to replace the former blue banners with these rich and colorful orange banners whose artwork include images of downtown buildings emblazoned with the words: Downtown Waterbury "Live. Work. Play". The Downtown Pole Banner Sponsorship Program originates out of Main Street Waterbury's Promotion Committee, part of Main Street America's four-point approach to downtown revitalization. The charge of the Promotion Committee is to market downtown's unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new businesses, tourists, and others, while promoting retail events, special events and ongoing programs. Businesses and organizations who are interested, can sponsor one or more pole banners. Businesses need not be located in the downtown district. Each sponsorship entitles a business up to 3 lines of text on a slice attached to a full banner. Each sponsorship is valid for 3-years for a total investment of $600 or a discounted rate of $500 each on multiple banner locations. Current sponsorship locations include South Main St., West Main St., Center St. and Grand St. Pole location choices will be first-come first served and pending availability. Recent 2020 sponsors include M.J. Fahy & Sons located on Judd St., NCE Homecare located on Cooke St., Meadow St. Automotive, Eversource, SGNL Communications, Jefferson Square Residential Building, Minuteman Press, and the Greater Waterbury Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Main Street Waterbury is taking sponsorship orders through March 31, 2021. Banners & slices will be installed in the Spring of 2021.
