Preston's League Completes Milestone of over 500 Wishlists

DURHAM, N.C. - Jan. 31, 2021 - PRLog -- Preston's League, a Durham, NC nonprofit, has been helping fulfill the wishlists of patients and families at Duke Hospital for two years. Children with cancer and other diseases who receive bone marrow transplants often stay on the bone marrow transplant floor for weeks, and even months, waiting to recover.  Preston's League wishlist program is a way that patients and families can get $25 of items each week that they want and/or need.  They place their order each week and Preston's League volunteers shop for their items.  Normally, these volunteers would deliver items directly to them at the hospital.  Due to COVID-19, no volunteers are allowed in the hospital.  Instead, the staff from the floor get the items from Preston's League volunteers and deliver them to the patients and their families.

Celeste Winslow, Preston's mom, knows first hand how precious these deliveries are to patients and their families.  After Preston was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, he spent 498 in the hospital, some at Texas Children's Hospital and the rest at Duke Hospital.  They had a service like this at Texas Children's Hospital, but missed it when they moved to Durham.  After Preston passed away at the age of 4 from AML, the Winslows decided to help other families the way that they had been helped at Texas Children's Hospital.

After such a difficult year, Preston's League is proud to support the children and families at Duke hospital with over 500 weekly wishlist deliveries.
